An Irish survey by Core in 2025 found that dating apps are now the most common way 18 to 34-year-olds meet their partner. Yet only 4% said online dating was their preferred way to meet someone.

4. An experience together. Tickets for a gig, a cookery class or a trip to the Galway Christmas Market in Eyre Square, which opens in early November, can be the gift and the date in one.
5. A cosy classic. Good coffee, a wool scarf or a book by their favourite author never goes out of style.
